Hydraulic gear machines (HGMs) play a pivotal role in hydraulic drive and control systems, where gears are central to their design and functionality. These machines are essential for the conversion of mechanical energy to hydraulic energy and vice versa. When acting as pumps, they transform mechanical energy into hydraulic energy, whereas, in their role as hydraulic motors, they perform the reverse function.The author, with a vast experience spanning over four decades, has dedicated much of their career to the study and advancement of HGMs. Initially working independently, the author has, in recent years, contributed as part of the Fluid Power Research Group based at the Mechanical Engineering Department of the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology in Poland.
