Monkey King wer. angielska - Wu Ch`eng-en - książka
Producent: Penguin Books
One of China's Four Great Classical Novels, "Monkey King" was penned anonymously during the Ming dynasty and is most frequently attributed to Wu Cheng'en, whose father worked as a silk-shop clerk in eastern China. This novel narrates the journey of a monk from the Tang dynasty on a mission to obtain Buddhist scriptures. Accompanying him are Sun Wukong, a kung-fu adept Monkey King, a divine pig with a fondness for rice, and a river-sand monster with a penchant for man-eating and a melancholic disposition. Much like "The Canterbury Tales" or "Don Quixote," this story is a blend of comedic adventure, sharp satire of Chinese governance, spiritual depth, and an extensive allegory of the pilgrims' path to enlightenment.
