Jadwiga Maziarska. Assembly - Harald Pridgar - książka
Producent: Hatje Cantz Verlag
Jadwiga Maziarska, a pivotal figure in Polish avant-garde art, made significant contributions to the field with her innovative "matter painting." Her artistic journey was notably ahead of her peers in Poland and contemporaries abroad. From 1934 to 1939, Maziarska honed her craft at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, studying alongside notable artists like Erna Rosenstein and Tadeusz Kantor. During this time, she engaged with the 1st Krakow Group and the Cricot Theatre, solidifying her standing in the artistic community. She completed her studies at the Academy in 1939, all the while maintaining active participation in political movements. From the 1940s through the 1990s, Maziarska's body of work expanded to include appliqués, paintings, collages, wax reliefs, spatial forms, and sculptures. These works were deeply influenced by science, phenomenology, and visual media, including photography, printed reproductions, and newspaper clippings, which she transformed into independent artistic structures. This extensive monograph brings wider recognition to this remarkable artist beyond Poland's borders.
